Theatre Productions
Our program emphasizes practical experience at every level of production. Students perform, design, direct, choreograph, stage manage, do research and concept analysis for faculty directors, construct and circuit, paint, sew, learn and teach.
Incoming students frequently ask if we limit auditions to upperclassmen or restrict casting to theatre majors/minors, as is common in larger theatre programs across the country . . . . The simple answer to both questions is NO. In the past four years, easily 50% of our leading roles have gone to freshman and/or non-majors. Our program is committed to a university-wide participation in the liberal arts experience, which means we believe what we are teaching can be valuable to students of every field and we know through experience that our program is immeasurably enriched by our diversity (and, frankly, we welcome the competition for our majors).
